Ground Transportation
Gdańsk's public transportation offers a variety of ways to get you where you want to go. Buses, trains and taxis are all commonly used to get around. Prices for the various methods of transporation differ. Keep in mind that taxis do not take credit cards. For more information about transporation, click here.
For those interested in renting cars, keep in mind that Poland, especially the area around Gdańsk, roads are not always the most up to date. Often times there are major traffic jams and construction. Make sure you leave plenty of time to arrive at your destination when planning your trip.
Visa Requirements & Letter of Invitation
View the Visa Information page for information.
What to tell customs agents
When asked your reason for visiting, keep your answer simple and truthful:
"I am attending a conference at the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Hall in Gdańsk."
Saying that you are "working in Gdańsk" could raise further questions about your visa status, complicating customs procedures. In most cases, you will clear customs at your point of entry in Europe.
Attendees may also want to carry copies of their conference confirmation, letter of invitation and/or other documentation about the conference if further questions should arise.
Bringing children into Gdańsk
Customs officers looking for missing children may ask questions about the children traveling with you. If you plan on traveling with children, special paperwork may be required. Please contact your local Polish Embassy or consulate for more information.
